Bodø - Sakrisøy

The hotel we are in is not only very modern, but a breakfast buffet is also included. We have a leisurely breakfast and enjoy the delicious food. We don't have too much time, because we have to pick up the car at the airport at 9 o'clock. You can walk to the airport here. We rent the car at Hertz, a Toyota Yaris Cross 4WD Hybrid in gold. A bit in a hurry we pick up our luggage at the hotel and drive directly to the car ferry. We have a reservation, but have read that you have to be there rather much in advance to still get a place on the popular ferry. But everything goes well and we park the car on the ferry, we can go to the passenger area on the upper decks with seats in front of large windows. The trip to Moskenes in Lofoten takes three and a half hours. We spend the time going out on deck to admire the scenery.

Shortly before arriving in Lofoten, we are only outside and marvel at the ever-growing mountains in front of us that suddenly rise out of the sea and the small colorful cottages.

And finally we are back on this wonderful Nordic island chain, the joy is great. Without hesitation, we drive straight to Å, which is the most southern village on the Lofoten that can be reached by car, here ends the road E10. We drive to the parking lot and walk to the cliffs on the outermost edge of Å with a view of mountains and the open sea. The path is very muddy, but the view is all the more beautiful for it.

We get our groceries in Reine, a fishing village a bit further north. Afterwards we drive to our accommodation and it seems that we hit the jackpot. It is a mini-villa in Olenilsøy, an island right next to Sakrisøy with the famous photo motif (orange house in front of a mountain) and Hamnøy, the photo hotspot par excellence. The accommodation is really very small but modern and well furnished. We have a direct view of the sea and many Norwegian cottages. It could not be better located. We stow our luggage briefly and go straight to Hamnøy, which we were most looking forward to again. The cottages in front of the prominent mountain are still equally beautiful.

A little further north in Ramberg we buy again in a larger store the missing things. Back at the accommodation we make ourselves really comfortable. We snuggle up in the rocking chairs in front of a small (fake) fireplace. In the evening we first enjoy a small apero and then cook curry rice. We are too tired for a series, but play a round of Monopoly on the tablet.
