Husøy
Our travels to Husøy
Today we allow ourselves to sleep in for the first time in days - it feels really nice! The weather is not looking too good today, so we decide not to go hiking and to take it easy today. We drive to Husøy, a tiny island next to the island of Senja. On this island we go to a Joker to buy groceries for today and tomorrow. We also walk to the lighthouse at the other end of the island, where we have a view over the open sea.

But then an unpleasant drizzle starts, causing us to walk firmly back towards the car. We continue on to our second stop - Fjordgård, a small village on the opposite side of the fjord from Husøy. The drive there is spectacular and we pass through terrain that absolutely looks like a moose could jump out at us at any moment. So we keep a good lookout, but don't see any. We would probably need to drive through there at dusk to see them, as they are quite shy during the day. We also drive through tunnels, which look pretty scary, especially when you consider that there is also two-way traffic. But we are lucky and are the only car going through at that time. In Fjordgård there is not much to do apart from a visit to the local shop, Nærbutikken Fjordgård. The trailheads for Segla and Hesten are also located in this village. We would have loved to do these two hikes, but the weather is not cooperating at all with the drizzle that is currently prevailing. Maybe we can do them tomorrow. So we drive back to our tiny house, where we relax and work on photos from the last few days and also play a game of Monopoly. For dinner we have thai curry soup with noodles and naan. It doesn't seem to go together very well, but it actually does and it's very tasty. We watch tennis for dinner, Nadal is playing Tiafoe in the US open eighth final.
