Bodø city and the crossing to the promised land

We start the day with an extensive breakfast at the wonderful buffet of our Radisson Blu hotel. There’s pretty much everything you could wish for at breakfast, and then some. We stuff ourselves and check out afterwards.

Nicolas trudges through deeply snowed-in streets to pick up the rental car at the airport. It’s a small SUV from MG. We had to google the brand first, we didn’t know it before. Nicolas collects Annina and the luggage from the hotel and drives through about 15 cm of fresh snow. Setting off again, we initially don’t move an inch, the tyres just spin despite the spikes. Only after rolling backwards for a run-up does it work.

We check out Bodø city, shop at a Eurospar for our next planned trip and wander through a few shops. Next we drive to the ferry port, because we’re heading on to the promised land: the Lofoten archipelago. We drive onto the car ferry and pick out great window seats facing forward. At first the crossing is quite calm, but around halfway it starts rocking rather heavily.

Punctually at 19:45 we arrive in Moskenes in the Lofoten. We’re finally back! It’s already dark, of course, so we can’t see much of the beautiful landscape yet. But one thing is clear: the Lofoten are buried deep in snow. We drive towards Ramberg, where our next accommodation is. On the way, the car spins out twice when pulling away on the snow-covered road, despite the spikes. They’re probably quite worn already, so we drive extra carefully for now. We know this accommodation well, we’ve stayed here twice before, most recently in September 2022. We settle in and have some soup before watching a series and going to sleep.
