Handöl - Huså

We wake up completely relaxed in our cabin in the forest and enjoy the nature all around us. Before we tidy everything up again, Nicolas sends his drone up over the beautiful forest to explore the area. Annina is in the cabin until she suddenly notices a more aggressive buzzing of the drone than usual and Nicolas lets out a loud sigh. Her premonition that lots of trees and a flying drone would not exactly get along proved right. In fact the drone had almost made it back to the cabin… but only almost. When Annina comes outside, she sees a very desperate-looking Nicolas and a drone stuck in the highest branch of a tree outside the cabin. Now the task was to retrieve the drone safely. Nicolas gathered together every tool he could find: a ladder, a wooden stake, a wooden stick and a shovel. But all the throwing, shaking and climbing was no use, the drone seems to feel very much at home on this branch. Annina photographs and films the whole spectacle so that everything is nicely documented, until the shovel and the wooden stick that Nicolas uses as projectiles are also hanging high up in the tree and make no move to come back down. So that was the workout of the day ticked off: Nicolas had done some throwing practice and Annina had badly strained abs from laughing.

Lucky in our misfortune! With the help of the ladder the upper branch can be shaken so that finally the thrown objects and eventually even the drone land back on the ground, and amazingly the drone is undamaged and still flies! Reassured, we can finish tidying up and continue our journey. We go once more to the nearby Handölsforsen waterfall, which now lies beautifully in the sun.

We walk across the suspension bridge again and along a path there to a beautiful viewpoint over the higher part of the waterfall.

We admire the breathtaking view and then drive on to the “Mystery Box”, the accommodation that Nicolas secretly booked as a surprise for Annina’s birthday. So we drive pretty much straight to Huså. Nicolas pulled off the surprise very well. The house in Huså is totally modern and beautifully located, with a view of a lake in the distance. We both feel perfectly at home.

In the evening we make use of the well-equipped, modern kitchen, and it’s Indian food: rice, spinach, veggie meatballs and an aubergine and tomato curry.
