Budapest Day 5

Today we want to get up early to enjoy the sunrise once more. We fail miserably and stay in bed even longer. Instead we go for breakfast (a little later than normal). Then we set off on a tour of discovery towards Buda Castle with a stop at “Bomo Art Budapest”, a small shop with handmade writing and paper supplies. Of course we also explore the Buda Castle area on our own before we escape the midday heat (over 36 degrees Celsius) to our hotel. Having arrived at the hotel, we order bowls via Wolt and watch a series while eating. Later in the afternoon we finally go on our free walking tour on the topic of “Buda Castles”. Our tour guide tells us a lot about Hungarian history and the many tragic events that led to the repeated destruction of the city’s buildings. The tour was very interesting and you suddenly see the buildings and their surroundings in a different light once you know the history that goes with them. After the tour we return to Fisherman’s Bastion and decide to spend the sunset there again. But since it is still a while until the sun goes down, we go to our hotel and sip good drinks in the lovely hotel garden. There we also book another accommodation for our upcoming (spoiler alert!) Lofoten trip and edit a few photos. As decided, we climb Fisherman’s Bastion again for the sunset (today for the 4th time!), where we treat ourselves to dumplings and quesadillas. The sunset is spectacular, we take a lot of photos despite the many people, and later a thunderstorm rolls in that we can see from the bastion. Tomorrow we want to try getting up early once more…
