After a huge breakfast we head off to another snorkelling adventure, this time at Gili Meno and Gili Air. At 10 am it is clear at 28 degrees. Together with Gili Trawangan, the two islands belong to the three small Gili Islands off the northwest coast of Lombok, on which there are no motor vehicles. Gili means small island in the language of the Sasak, and Gili Meno lies between the other two and is the smallest of the three. Meno and Air both have beautiful beaches and a lot of underwater life. The sand is light and fine, the water glows turquoise and turns deep blue further out, mountains stand out on the horizon, and small waves run up the beach.
While snorkelling we see three big sea turtles, lots of fish and corals, and we take some amazing pictures underwater (that are not yet on the phone). One of them is the cover photo. It shows a turtle gliding large and close to the camera over a stony reef, with someone with a snorkel swimming behind it.
After this trip we head back to our hotel, where fresh coconuts are waiting for us. From the hammock we look through the trees at the water, the sun is low and reflects in the sea.
On the wooden table in front of Annina stands a green coconut with a straw, next to it a small turtle figurine. Behind her stretch the lawn with palm trees and sun loungers and the sea.
At sunset the sun is an orange disc above the dark strip of coast, behind it Mount Agung on Bali stands out, and a ray of light falls slantwise across the water. In the next pictures the sky turns pink and orange. We stand as silhouettes at the water, a palm frond hangs into the picture, and a few lights glow on the far shore.
We also enjoy some excellent Indian and Indonesian food.
